Stars of the Month: December

By Kelsey Hagan 01/04/2018, 10:00am EST

We're over halfway into the season  with just two more months left to go. Don't worry, there is still much more to come with 28 more regular season games and our January showcase on the horizon. Looking back on the month, only four teams from our Gold Division saw action last month but there was plenty of goals to go around, especially with our December showcase, which saw excellent turnout from scouts. That being said let's take a minute to shine the spotlight on our Stars of the Month for December.

Forward - Cassidy McNeeley Walpole Express

Express forward Cassidy McNeeley (Massachusetts, MA) is December's Forward of the month. The Holy Cross commit scored 5 points last month with 2 goals and 3 assists, including 2 multi-point performances. A new addition to the Express squad this season, McNeeley, who was also named captain for the 2017-18 season has been at the helm of the Express' offensive success leading her team with 16 total points on the season. McNeeley's point-scoring and leadership abilities has earned her Forward of the Month.

Defense - Cassi Ronan Walpole Express

This month's defenseman of the month goes to Express defenseman Cassi Ronan (Massachusetts, USA). In December, Ronan showed off her offensive prowess scoring 5 goals. The defenseman notched 2 multi-scoring performances in December, including the contribution of both of the Express' goals in a 4-2 loss against the Northern Cyclones. Ronan's five goals in the month of December helped her moved her to the fourth best on the team in the category and is also the most goals scored by a defenseman in a single month this season, an effort which earns her the title of Defenseman of the Month.

Goaltender - Amber Lee Northern Cyclones

The Goaltender of the Month for December goes to Cyclones net-minder Amber Lee (Maine, USA). Lee posted a record of 2-1-0 in December allowing just 7 goals on 68 shots on net. The goaltender also posted an impressive performance in the December Showcase against Stanstead College holding the offense to just 3 goals in the game, the smallest margin in the tournament. Lee also posted the highest save percentage last month saving .897 percent of shots on net, which helped to solidify her place as Goaltender of the Month.

Rookie - Chloe Shapleigh East Coast Wizards

Our rookie selection for the month of December goes to Wizards defenseman Chloe Shapleigh (Massachusetts, MA). The rookie defenseman scored her first goal and point last month against the Kunlun Redstar. Though this may be her only offensive stat in the record books, Shapleigh was nothing less than stellar defensively for the Wizards. Shapleigh is the first defensive player ever to earn the title of Rookie of the Month. Just a freshman in high school, Shapleigh surely has the potential to become one of the league's best defenseman in the seasons to come.

Honorable Mention- Shana Cote Northern Cyclones

The honorable mention this month goes to Cylcones forward Shana Cote (Colorado, USA). Cote also scored a respectable 5 points in December dishing out 1 goal and 4 assists in 5 appearances. In addition, Cote posted a multi-point performance against the Express in their first December meeting scoring 1 goal and 2 assists in the game. Cote's helping hands have earned her the Honorable Mention.

Stars of the Month: November

By Kelsey Hagan 12/18/2017, 11:15am EST

You'll notice that three names on this edition of Stars of the Month also appeared in October's addition. These three players, slotted in the Forward, Rookie, and Honorable Mention selections, not only went above and beyond in October, but absolutely raised the bar in November.

Forward - Sara Krauseneck Northern Cyclones

During the selection process for this month's Forward of the Month, only one name came to mind: the captain Sara Krauseneck (Michigan, USA). No one was better than Krausneck in November, in her 3 appearances scoring 5 goals and 4 assists including a hat trick performance against the East Coast Wizards. Her 9 points over this 3 game span earns her an average of 3 points per game, better than any player in the league so far this season. Her hard work in the month of November moves her up from the Honorable Mention selection last month to this month's Forward of the month.

Defenseman - Madi Brown Northern Cyclones

This month's defensive selection goes to Cyclones defenseman Madi Brown (New York, USA). Brown netted 5 assists in the 3 games in November including 2 multi-point performances against the RedStar and Wizards. Brown's defensive play came up big last month as well, as part of a defense that only allowed 3 goals against. The defenseman's efforts in the month of November earn her Defenseman of the Month honors.

Goaltender- Denisa Jandova Ontario Hockey Academy Tardiff

Our goaltender selection for November goes to Denisa Jandova (Czech Republic). Jandova making just 1 appearance in November against the Ontario Hockey Academy Juniors stopped 30 pucks and allowing just 2 goals against a team with two of the leagues best scorers in Ann-Frederique Guay and Gabi Davidson-Adams. Posting a save percentage of .938, Jandova earns the Goaltender of the Month selction for November.

Rookie - Ann-Frederique Guay Ontario Hockey Academy Junior

October's Forward of the Month, Ann-Frederique Guay (Quebec, Canada) earns a new title this month as Rookie of the Month November. In her 6 appearances this month, Guay was the league's leading scorer with 11 total points, 9 of which counted as goals on the stats sheet. Putting away a goal in every game she played in November, Guay started off hot with three 2 goal performances. Taking home her second league accolade in two months, Guay has certainly made an impression on the league in her only season.

Honorable Mention - Gabi Davidson Adams Ontario Hockey Academy Junior

The final selection this month goes to another familiar face in Ontario Hockey Academy Junior forward Gabi Davidson-Adams (Ontario, Canada) who earned last month's Rookie of the Month selection. With 8 points in the month of November, Davidson-Adams posted another solid month in the EWHC . Her 8 points from a combined 5 goals and 3 assists earns her the honorable mention and another appearance as an EWHC Star of the Month.
