Red Star Women’s Ice Hockey Announce Hiring of Cari Coen to the Junior Team Staf

Marlborough, MA (September 5, 2017)- Kunlun Red Star (KRS) Women’s Ice Hockey team is proud to announce that the hiring of Cari Coen as Assistant Coach to the Junior Team and Chinese National U18 programs.

Coach Coen joins the staff of KRS after serving as an assistant coach, and teaching, at the Hoosac School, a prestigious private school located in Hoosick, NY. Prior to working at the Hoosac school, Coach Coen was Head Coach of the Anaheim Lady Ducks, leading the team to a successful run in the Pacific Districts and helping 12 of her 16 student athletes secure spots on NCAA teams. Coach Coen has also worked a number of USA Hockey camps.

“Coach Coen is a great addition to our staff. Her experience as a teacher and mentor to young women will be a great asset in developing the junior team athletes.” Said Chief Head Coach Digit Murphy.

I am very excited to be a part of the historic Kunlun Red Star Women's Hockey family and couldn't be more appreciative to be working for KRS and having the opportunity to grow the game of women's hockey.” Coach Coen stated, “With that being said, I am very ecstatic to model the Kunlun Red Star Junior Team after Head Coach Murphy and Associate Head Coach Morgan in the CWHL.

KRS is working to create a successful long-term development plan for women’s ice hockey in China as the nation prepares to host the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. Part of this plan includes the fielding of several Junior and Pro level teams under the direction of KRS Executive Vice President Mintwell Wang, Chief Coach Digit Murphy, and her staff.
