EWHC Awards and All-Conference

Most Valuable Player - TAISIYA RYKOVA, NORTHERN CYCLONES

Taisiya Rykova of the Northern Cyclones has been named EWHC Regular Season MVP for the 2018-19 season. 

Rykova was spectacular all-around for the Cyclones this season scoring 16 goals and 12 assists to tie for a league-leading 28 points. During the playoffs, Rykova collected two goals and two assists, including the game-tying goal against the Express in the EWHC Championship game that eventually sent the game to overtime and resulted in a Cyclones victory.

Forward of the Year - HAYLEY PARRISH, WALPOLE EXPRESS

Hayley Parrish of the Walpole Express has been named EWHC Forward of the Year for the 2018-19 season. 

Parrish led the league in goals during the regular season with 17. She added 11 goals to tie for a league-best 28 points during that span. The Express finished the regular season with a 12-8-1 record. In the playoffs,  Parrish led the Express with a pair of goals against the Wizards to help her team advance to the championship game. 

Defender of the Year - MADI BROWN, NORTHERN CYCLONES

Madi Brown of the Northern Cyclones has named EWHC Defender of the Year for the 2018-19 season. 

Brown anchored a Cyclones defensive unit that gave up just 1.37 goals per game. Offensively, Brown notched five goals and a league-best 13 assists during the regular season, for a total of 18 points. During the post season, Brown chipped in with a goal and two assists.  In the EWHC Championship against Walpole, Brown dished out an assist on the game-winner just 15 seconds into overtime.

Goaltender of the Year - HANNAH PODVEY, NEW JERSEY COLONIALS

Hannah Podvey of the New Jersey Colonials has been named EWHC Goaltender of the Year for the 2018-19 season. 

In her first season of EWHC play, the goaltender did not miss a minute of action for her team, playing and completing all 21 possible regular season contests, seeing 951 minutes between the pipes. Podvey led the league with a whopping 552 saves, 262 more than the next player. During the regular season, the goaltender posted a .857 save percentage. In the post season, Podvey managed 102 minutes in goal for New Jersey, making 42 total saves and earning the clean sheet victory over the Philadelphia Junior Flyers to advance to the Semifinals.

Cyclones headline November Stars of the Month lineup.

Stars of the Month: November

November saw 14 contests and included the 2018-19 debut of the Walpole Express, which came off an impressive performance in the 2018 playoffs. The bulk of games came at the Eastern Women's Hockey Conference's November showcase which was hosted by the Northern Cyclones. 

FORWARD -  TAISIYA RYKOVA, NORTHERN CYCLONES
Taisiya Rykova of the Northern Cyclones has been selected EWHC Star of the Month for November. 

Rykova was stellar for the Cyclones in the month of November, scoring at least a point in every game she played in, including three multi-point performances. The forward led her team to \ victories over the Walpole Express an East Coast Wizards in non-showcase action as well as scoring the equalizing goal against Ontario Hockey Academy Junior in a close game that the Cyclones eventually lost. Rykova, who made her EWHC debut in the 2017 season, ranks first in the league with 15 points and second in goals with nine. 

Other Outstanding Performances: 

October's Forward of the Month Julia Massotta of the East Coast Wizards  continued her impressive 2018-19 campaign into November. So far this season, the rookie leads the league in goals with 10 to date. 

DEFENSE -  KELLY ROBBINS, NORTHERN CYCLONES

Kelly Robbins of the Northern Cyclones has been selected EWHC Defender of the Month for November. 

In November, Robbins contributed three points from the blue line for the Cyclones with one goal and two assists. Robbins has also been an instrumental part of the Cyclones defense which limited opponents to four total points in November and posted a shut-out performance on home ice against the New Jersey Cyclones on the second day of the November showcase. 

Other Outstanding Performances: 

Neris Archambault of the East Coast Wizards collected a goal from the blue line for the Wizards in November. The forward-turned-defender has scored 5 points so far this season. 

GOALTENDER - CARMEN CORREA RIVERO, ONTARIO HOCKEY ACADEMEY JUNIOR

Carmen Correa Rivero of Ontario Hockey Academy Junior has been selected EWHC Goaltender of the Month for November

Correa Rivero earned two clean-sheet victories in November against the New Jersey Colonials and Walpole Express. In the Junior's win over the Express, who gave the 2017-18 runner-up, a run for their money in the 2018 playoffs, were limited to just 17 shots on goal. 

 

Stars of the Month: October

The Eastern Women's Hockey Conference kicked off the 2018-19 season with six of its seven franchises taking the ice at the October Showcase hosted by Ontario Hockey Academy. 

FORWARD - JULIA MASSOTTA, EAST COAST WIZARDS

Julia Massotta of the East Coast Wizards has been named SCAC Forward of the Month for October.

The Wizards newcomer began her career in impressive fashion collecting a hat-trick, including the game-winner, in her first conference appearance against he New Jersey Colonials.  During the rest of the month, Massota collected four more points, totaling seven over a five-game span. 

DEFENSE - VERITY LEWIS, ONTARIO HOCKEY ACADEMY TARDIFF

Verity Lewis of the Ontario Hockey Academy Tardiff has been named EWHC Defender of the Month for October. 

Lewis put away a pair of goals in the OHA Showcase in victories against the Northern Cyclones and New Jersey Colonials. In addition, the Tardiff defense, led by Lewis held opponents to just 3 points all tournament including two shutout efforts.  

GOALTENDER - AMBER LEE, NORTHERN CYCLONES

Amber Lee of the Northern Cyclones has been named Goaltender of the Month for October. 

Lee held three clean sheets in October after seeing 49 total shots in her three appearances.
